About the position
The Student Life Ambassador (SLA) position at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is a part-time temporary role focused on enhancing student engagement and fostering a sense of belonging within the campus community. SLAs assist in the development and implementation of various programs and services that support student life, while also managing day-to-day operations of the Student Life offices. This role involves working closely with students and staff to create a vibrant campus environment through events, information sessions, and support services.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of programs that foster student engagement and belonging.
- Provide support for departmental and student events and programming.
- Plan, promote, and implement programs on campus that increase student engagement.
- Provide high standards of customer service to students and constituents.
- Support the operation of Student Life spaces, including the Engagement Desk and Student Lounge.
- Assist in training new student staff and provide office coverage as needed.
- Handle cash and operate a POS system for transactions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be enrolled in and maintain 12 credit hours at JCCC with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- Basic understanding of computers and/or video game consoles.
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic team environment.
- Experience working with the public preferred.
