About the position

The Student Life Specialist II position is designed to provide mentoring and support for a variety of student clubs and organizations, enhancing community engagement and leadership development on campus. This role involves planning events, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies while fostering a positive student experience through educational programming and resource management.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for student life activities and events, including New Student Orientation and First Year Experience.
• Ensure adherence to College of the Mainland (COM) policies related to student activities, events, and travel.
• Supervise student life events and encourage student participation.
• Oversee budgeting for student life activities and events.
• Act as a resource for student life clubs and organizations on campus.
• Create and manage social media presence for Student Life, including announcements and newsletters.
• Assist with recruitment and community events in collaboration with Institutional Advancement and College Connections Advisors.
• Support the Director of Student Life with gym facility needs and student wellness initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Kinesiology, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• Experience in a leadership role with student groups in higher education.
• Proficiency with social media and event planning.
• One year of experience working with students in student life or higher education.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Education, Kinesiology, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• Experience in assessing student needs and coordinating events accordingly.
• Ability to manage departmental budgets and track expenditures.
