About the position

The Student Media Graphic Designer position at Indiana State University is a regular student job that involves working under the supervision of the Student Digital Media Manager or a designated student supervisor within Syc Creations. This student group is responsible for producing client-driven videos, managing in-house websites, developing sites for clients, and offering graphic design services for Student Media. The role is designed for students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in multimedia production, graphic design, and teamwork in a creative environment. As a graphic designer, the student will engage in various aspects of multimedia production, which includes both digital and traditional print media. The responsibilities encompass producing multimedia content for campus and off-campus clients, participating in project planning, and providing graphic design services such as logo creation, branding, and messaging through posters. The designer will also be expected to listen to client needs and offer suggestions to meet their expectations effectively. The position requires maintaining regular work hours to ensure timely completion of projects and collaborating with other team members involved in Syc Creations. The graphic designer will contribute to a culture of innovation in delivering multimedia content through various Student Media outlets and may also engage in tasks related to social media, webmastering, or video production as assigned by the Student Digital Media Manager or Student Lead. The expected workload is approximately 10 hours per week during the fall and spring academic terms, with potential opportunities for summer and semester break employment. Candidates should be prepared to showcase their work samples during the interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Produce or assist in the production of multimedia content for campus and off-campus clients and for Student Media groups.
  • Participate in planning of multimedia projects.
  • Offer traditional graphic design services such as logos, branding, and messaging through posters.
  • Listen to clients and offer suggestions and guidance on the best way to meet client needs and expectations.
  • Maintain regular work hours to complete all projects within allotted time.
  • Work in a team environment with others involved in some aspect of Syc Creations.
  • Participate in and contribute to a culture of innovation in delivery of multimedia content through various Student Media outlets.
  • Collaborate with students in other Student Media units.
  • Other work as assigned by the Student Digital Media Manager or Student Lead, possibly including work related to social media, webmastering, or video production.
