About the position
The Campus Counselor at Transylvania University provides essential mental health counseling services to students, focusing on individual counseling, crisis intervention, and case management. This role involves maintaining confidentiality, documentation, and collaboration with faculty and staff to address the mental health needs of the student population. The counselor will also engage in outreach programming and training, contributing to the overall well-being of the campus community.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health counseling to current students, including triage and individual counseling.
- Respond to crises and consult with professionals, staff, and faculty regarding student mental health needs.
- Administer assessments and manage cases for students seeking mental health services.
- Maintain documentation and records in an electronic records management system while ensuring confidentiality.
- Participate in outreach programming and training for various campus groups, including residence hall advisors and faculty members.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and staff regarding mental health issues and participate in campus committees focused on psychological health.
Requirements
- Master's degree in psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Valid professional license (LPCC, LPCA, LCSW, LMFT).
- Relevant experience in mental health counseling, preferably with college-aged students.
