About the position

The Student Minister at Cowboy Fellowship is responsible for designing, coordinating, and overseeing a comprehensive student ministry program for grades 7-12. This role focuses on building young disciples for Christ through various activities including worship, discipleship, outreach, and volunteer management. The Student Minister serves as a spiritual leader and advocate for students, ensuring their needs are met within the church and community.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a student advocate, educating the congregation about the goals and needs of students.
  • Communicate with church leadership, staff, parents, and congregation about the student ministry.
  • Plan, develop, and implement a balanced and engaging student ministry.
  • Identify the needs and interests of teens within the church and community.
  • Evaluate existing programs for effectiveness.
  • Provide ministry and mission opportunities for students throughout the year.
  • Teach biblically sound sermons and studies to inspire students.
  • Research resources for developing student ministry programming.
  • Participate in continuing education events and training opportunities.
  • Mentor students and provide counseling and spiritual direction.
  • Ensure a successful transition between children's, student, and young adult ministries.
  • Oversee and supervise volunteer student leaders and staff.
  • Recruit and train volunteers for student ministry support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation.
  • Manage the student ministry budget.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule for student visits and activities.
  • Collaborate with church staff in a team environment.
  • Attend weekly/monthly staff and leadership meetings.
  • Perform other ministry tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
  • Oversee the Children's Ministry in the absence of the Children's Minister.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in student mentoring, counseling, and development.
  • Exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God.
  • Experience in developing and managing large youth programs (80-150 students).
  • Ability to work effectively with children, teenagers, young adults, and diverse groups.
  • Technology skills including Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, social media, video editing, and visual graphics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Experience in organizing volunteer efforts (20+ volunteers).
  • Public relations and leadership skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential information.
  • Experience in program/meeting planning and coordinating activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Seminary degree or training is recommended but not required.
