About the position
The Student Nurse Apprentice - RN at Parkview Health is an entry-level position designed for nursing students in their final semesters. The role involves assisting a designated nurse preceptor and other nursing staff in providing care to patients of all ages, adhering to the standards set by Parkview Health and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. The apprentice will engage in various patient care activities under supervision, gaining practical experience in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist the designated nurse preceptor and additional nurses with patient care.
- Participate in delegated patient care activities including taking vital signs and assisting with activities of daily living.
- Support treatments and basic IV care under supervision.
- Assist in patient education as directed by the supervising nurse.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program, in the final 1-2 semesters for ASN or BSN degree.
- Completion of required nursing program courses to date and in good academic standing.
- Current CPR and BLS certification required.
- Previous experience or program of study in direct patient care is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience as a CNA, PCT, paramedic, military medic, mental health technician, or home health aide is preferred.
