About the position

As an intern in the Med Surg Neuro/Tele department at Ascension St. Agnes Hospital, you will be providing direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role is designed for individuals who are either accepted into or currently enrolled in a nursing program, allowing you to gain practical experience in a healthcare setting. Your responsibilities will include completing assigned nursing orders, assisting patients with activities of daily living, and taking vital signs. You will also observe patient status and responses, documenting and reporting your observations to your preceptor or other appropriate staff members. Additionally, you will assist your preceptor in developing care plans by reporting test results and patient observations, and you may be tasked with other duties such as environmental services and preparing or transporting patients for diagnostic services. This internship is a PRN (as needed) position, primarily during night shifts or on a rotating schedule. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.
  • Observe patient status and responses, documenting and reporting observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff.
  • Assist preceptor with the development of care plans by reporting test results and patient observations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Nurse Aide certification obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be accepted or enrolled in a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.
