About the position

Ascension St. Vincent's East is seeking dedicated nursing students for the Student Nurse Intern position. This internship offers a unique opportunity for nursing students actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. Interns will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and will be required to provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The position is scheduled on a rotating PRN basis, requiring interns to work 36 hours every six weeks, including at least one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday). This role is designed to enhance the practical skills of nursing students while they continue their education. Interns will be responsible for completing assigned nursing orders as directed by their preceptor, which includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, and observing patient status and responses. Documentation and reporting of observations to the preceptor or other appropriate staff are also key responsibilities. Additionally, interns will assist their preceptor in developing care plans by reporting test results and patient observations. Other tasks may include environmental services and preparing or transporting patients for diagnostic services.
