The Student Nurse Tech position at Select Specialty Hospital is a per-diem role designed for nursing students who have completed their first year of nursing education. The role involves providing basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, focusing on the needs of chronically and critically ill patients. The position emphasizes the importance of patient-centered care and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient recovery and independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care, including bathing, oral hygiene, and grooming.
• Assist with urinary catheter removal and perform routine specimen collections.
• Deliver meals and snacks, and assist patients who are unable to feed themselves.
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment.
• Answer patient call lights and perform services that enhance patient well-being.
• Transport patients to designated areas within the hospital.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program).
• Proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
