About the position

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies are currently seeking undergraduate interns for various Information Technology and Computer Science roles for Spring 2025. This internship program is designed to provide students with meaningful work experience while allowing them to contribute to the company's mission of serving independent agents and protecting families and businesses. Interns will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, with remote options available for non-location critical roles, while location critical roles will require a presence on-site at the headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. Interns will engage in a variety of activities that will enhance their understanding of the insurance industry and the company's operations. They will participate in introductory insurance classes, engage with different departments to understand the corporate structure, and have the chance to sign up for optional learning development tracks. Interns will also interact with leadership and experienced associates, participate in group and individual projects, and contribute to team meetings and presentations. The internship roles available include IT Audit, Analyst, Operations, Dev Ops, Security, Admin, and IT Facilities. Interns will assist with business activities and processes, conduct research on emerging trends, perform data analysis, generate reports, and serve both internal and external customers. They will also be expected to have knowledge of scripting languages, databases, computer hardware, and networking concepts, as well as effective communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. The internship is a great opportunity for students to develop their skills, build productive relationships, and embrace challenges in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with business activities and processes
  • Participate and contribute to team meetings, presentations, and projects
  • Research emerging trends, data analysis, and evaluate options
  • Generate reports, promotional/educational materials, and other work products
  • Serve internal and external customers

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student at an accredited college/university (sophomore or above preferred)
  • Good academic standing (cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred)
  • Ability to work up to 24 hours per week; Hybrid schedule eligible (may vary by role)
  • Proficient in Microsoft® Office tools and related software
  • Prior experience in customer-facing service work through volunteering, employment, and/or extracurricular activities

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell and VBScript
  • Knowledge of databases, simple data analysis, and reporting
  • Understanding of computer networks (TCP/IP protocol, load balancing, monitoring, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows server platform, virtualization, and cloud computing concepts
  • Ability to research, understand, and author technical documentation
