About the position

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' Information Technologies departments are currently seeking undergraduate interns for IT Developer Internship positions for Spring 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity for students to gain meaningful work experience while contributing to the company's mission of providing exceptional service to independent agents. The successful candidates will be part of a team that values collaboration, diversity, and continuous learning. Interns will have the chance to work in a hybrid environment, allowing them to work from home several days a week, depending on their role's location requirements. Interns will engage in various activities that will enhance their understanding of the insurance industry and the company's operations. They will participate in introductory insurance classes, engage with different departments to understand the corporate structure, and have opportunities for professional development through optional learning tracks. Interns will also interact with leadership and experienced associates, participate in group and individual projects, and contribute to team meetings and presentations. The internship will involve assisting with business activities and processes, generating reports, and creating promotional and educational materials. Interns will serve both internal and external customers, utilizing their knowledge of scripting languages, databases, and computer hardware. They will also be expected to research and author technical documentation, effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and prioritize and organize their work effectively. This role is ideal for students who are eager to learn new technologies and improve processes while contributing to the company's success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with business activities and processes
  • Participate and contribute to team meetings, presentations, and projects
  • Generate reports, promotional/educational materials, and other work products
  • Serve internal and external customers
  • Utilize knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell and VBScript
  • Conduct simple data analysis and reporting
  • Understand computer hardware, imaging, and software installation including Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Gain knowledge of computer networks, Linux/Windows server platforms, and cloud computing concepts
  • Research and author technical documentation
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Interact effectively with management and colleagues to prioritize and organize work
  • Continuously learn new technologies, skills, and improved processes

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student at an accredited college/university (sophomore or above preferred)
  • Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Ability to work up to 24 hours per week
  • Proficient in Microsoft® Office tools and related software
  • Prior experience in customer-facing service work through volunteering, employment, or extracurricular activities
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, databases, and computer hardware
  • Understanding of computer networks and cloud computing concepts
  • Effective communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and skills
