About the position

The Student Organizations Advisor and Program Manager at UC San Diego is responsible for advising and assisting with event planning for over 650 student organizations, which collectively host more than 4,000 events annually. This role involves coaching student leaders on program development, risk management, and organizational management, while also interpreting university policies related to campus activities. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to coordinate campus-wide events that enhance student involvement and campus life.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist with event planning for multiple categories of student organizations.
  • Coach student leaders on program development, risk management, and organizational management.
  • Review and interpret university policies related to campus activities for student organizations.
  • Coordinate and manage campus-wide events and programs promoting student involvement.
  • Assess and respond to student needs for programs, services, and crisis intervention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • Minimum of three years of related professional experience in higher education/student affairs.
  • Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
  • Experience in advising and counseling techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement, and assess programs and events.
