The University of Kentucky is seeking a dedicated and ethical Student Research Assistant to contribute to a project focused on studying colorectal cancer. This part-time position is ideal for current undergraduate students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in research and apply their coding skills in a practical setting. The primary responsibilities will include implementing reinforcement learning algorithms using Python, which is essential for the project's success. The student will be expected to read and analyze research papers to build a solid background knowledge for the project, as well as to understand specific data processing strategies and algorithm implementations. In this role, the student will be responsible for writing and editing Python code, which includes understanding and modifying existing code written by others, as well as developing their own code. Regular reporting and presentation of work progress will be required, along with the writing of research papers to document findings and methodologies. The topics covered in Chapter 3 of "Reinforcement Learning: An Introduction" will be discussed, providing a theoretical foundation for the practical work involved in the project. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful research while developing valuable skills in coding and machine learning. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing for a structured yet flexible work environment that accommodates the academic commitments of the student.
