About the position

The Student Services Coordinator at Columbia University School of Nursing will play a vital role in the Office of Student Affairs, focusing on enhancing the student experience across various functions including Enrollment, Financial Aid, and Student Services. This position involves direct communication with students, managing inquiries, and supporting the implementation of school policies. The coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing high-quality support to students.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the OSSNursing email inbox to respond to student inquiries and escalate urgent issues.
  • Support communication and implementation of school policies to improve student experience.
  • Assist students with registration processes and manage related forms.
  • Confirm proper processing of Leave of Absences and Withdrawals in SIS.
  • Arrange disability accommodations for students and communicate with proctors.
  • Oversee annual locker distribution and manage student withdrawals and graduates.
  • Utilize Slate to create forms and track registrations.
  • Send reminders to students about university requirements and manage compliance holds.
  • Update and organize content for the weekly Student Newsletter.
  • Process registrations and payments for organizational memberships.
  • Coordinate in-person and virtual student events, including career workshops and socials.
  • Manage outreach for the annual Career Fair and recruitment activities.
  • Track and pay invoices related to student events and monitor budgets.
  • Assist in planning department-hosted events and manage logistics.
  • Coordinate meetings and document minutes for internal distribution.
  • Support annual department events such as Graduation and White Coat Ceremony.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in higher education or student services.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent judgment and discretion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in student advising.
  • Familiarity with large database systems.
  • Knowledge of Columbia University's Student Information System (SIS).
  • Experience with Technolutions (Slate) system.
