About the position

The Student Service and Financial Aid Coordinator will assist students from initial exploration of college through job placement. Various techniques will be employed to help students enter and complete college including, but not limited to, helping students with financial aid, recruiting, guiding tours. This is a Student Services position working primarily with students in technical programs and will report under the Vice President for Technical Education.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with prospective nursing students via email, text, phone, written correspondence, online chat, and social media.
  • Partner with faculty and staff in retention efforts of all students.
  • Present the College in a positive manner to diverse populations.
  • Conduct high school visits as assigned for the purpose of student recruitment.
  • Participate in College Planning Conferences.
  • Conduct campus visits as required.
  • Assist with Allied Health enrollment.
  • Work with the Director of Nursing to evaluate student pre-requisites and test scores.
  • Set-up nursing student interviews.
  • Work with the admissions team to create new recruitment campaigns.
  • Conduct additional Admission activities as required.
  • Assist students with the financial aid process: application, counseling, scholarships, student loans, and other financial aid forms.
  • Work with KBOR and the HCC financial aid office to disburse Kansas Promise Scholarship funds.
  • Assist students to develop academic skills and provide academic advisement.
  • Provide ongoing orientation to campus resources and services.
  • Focus on helping economically challenged students with the barriers they face during their first year of college.
  • Assist with enrollment management.
  • Work as liaison between Adult Basic Education and the Atchison Technical Center.
  • Become an active member in KACRAO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Related experience and/or training desired.
  • Must have good to excellent computer skills including a thorough knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record with no major infractions in the last five years.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, other colleges, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to recruits, management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and excellent recordkeeping skills.
  • Should have a service orientation and positive attitude toward students, employees, and community people who interact with the College.
