The Student Support Services Program Assistant plays a crucial role in providing assessment and referral support services to students within the Student Support Services Program (SSSP) at El Paso Community College. This full-time, temporary position requires in-person work on campus and involves monitoring students' academic progress, advising on deficiencies, and maintaining student records. The assistant will also handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and distributing informational materials.

  • Perform routine assessment of students' academic and support services needs.
  • Monitor students' academic and learning activity progress, advising on deficiencies and helping establish corrective plans.
  • Record, track, and maintain related student records, logs, and databases.
  • Prepare forms and reports as required, including statistical data for grants.
  • Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, greet students, and respond to inquiries.
  • Refer students to other college offices and support services as needed.
  • Distribute informational materials to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provide assistance in the virtual office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Associate's Degree and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to perform basic tutoring skills in Math, Reading, and Writing.
  • Effective customer service and telephone etiquette skills.
  • Experience using office equipment such as personal computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers.
  • Effective computer skills, including internet navigation and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and Banner.
