About the position

The Student Support Specialist at Washington Adventist University (WAU) plays a crucial role in facilitating the registration process for new students, ensuring efficient transfer credit evaluations, and acting as a liaison between prospective students and various university departments. This position is integral to the Office of Admissions/Enrollment and aims to enhance the overall student experience by providing timely and accurate support throughout the enrollment process.

Responsibilities

  • Register all first year and new transfer students into WAU with 90% efficacies.
  • Make contact with new student(s) within 24 hours of deposit submission to advise on course selection.
  • Review and evaluate transcripts and transfer credit-related documents from prior educational institutions.
  • Determine transfer coursework applicability and/or equivalency.
  • Authenticate documents and ensure accuracy of transfer student academic records.
  • Review 'Permission to Enroll' forms.
  • Research and respond to inquiries related to students' transfer evaluation.
  • Act as a liaison for prospective students by assisting with all processes including registration and degree planning.
  • Provide comprehensive responses to student questions regarding transfer credit, transcripts, and document tracking.
  • Maintain a mastery of content knowledge for all university programs and community college agreements.
  • Engage in enrollment management training and continuously monitor enrollment processes at WAU.
  • Recruit and appropriately advise prospective students utilizing CRM software through various communication methods.
  • Assist current and prospective students with scheduling initial courses.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that contributes to a professional, team-centered environment.
  • Use technology effectively for record-keeping and communication.
  • Work outside of assigned hours for recruitment events as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR a minimum of an Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years work experience in sales, marketing, recruiting, or related activities.
  • Experience in sales, recruiting or higher education is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to be insurable is required.
  • Documented experience in the use of current educational technologies including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize issues.
