About the position

ASRC Federal System Solutions is seeking a Student Trainee/Intern to support the FAA's SWIM Terminal Data Distribution (STDDS) Team. This role involves assisting with software programming, development, and testing while interacting with federal customers to contribute to various projects and deliverables. The position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, providing hands-on experience in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Support software programming, development, review, audit, testing, and configuration management.
• Interact with federal customers to contribute to project success.
• Assist in debugging complex systems and conducting reviews, audits, and testing.
• Understand and apply Agile software development concepts and practices.
• Participate in user interface design and implementation.

Requirements

• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
• Must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years.
• Basic knowledge of systems software and computer systems architecture.
• Understanding of distributed multi-process application concepts.
• Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software debugging.

Nice-to-haves

• Linux experience
• Basic knowledge of UNIX-like Operating Systems (i.e., Linux, Solaris, IRIX)
• Coursework in software development, object-oriented analysis and design, JAVA, C/C++
• Good written and spoken communication skills
• Desire to work in software engineering with various programming languages.
