About the position

The Student Wellness Services Administrator at Canyons School District is responsible for implementing policies and procedures to ensure that each student is safe, healthy, and ready to learn. This role involves leading and managing the District Case Management Team (DCMT) and District Support Team (DST), providing consultation to school administrators, and overseeing student discipline processes. The administrator will also facilitate training, manage case files, and support the reintegration of students into the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and provide direct oversight to CSD's DCMT and DST processes.
  • Provide consultation to school administrators from the start of investigations to DCMT case completion.
  • Facilitate new cases and review ongoing cases for the DST and DCMT.
  • Select case management team representatives from each school level.
  • Coordinate suspension reinstatement meetings with school and district staff, students, and parents.
  • Conduct Safe Schools Policy reviews with students and parents regarding violations.
  • Serve as part of the Policy Committee on policies related to Student Code of Conduct and Discipline.
  • Act as the district Title IX lead investigator and decision maker.
  • Refine and support the DCMT decision-making process for student discipline.
  • Provide training on investigative steps and practices for school administrators.
  • Support school principals with disciplinary decision making in coordination with School Performance Directors.
  • Provide resources and support related to student discipline to principals, parents, and staff.
  • Support CSD's Peer Court Program for disciplinary referrals and manage student cases.
  • Coordinate professional development activities regarding student discipline with district specialists and school administrators.
  • Direct the collection, organization, and analysis of student data for the SWS Department.
  • Address complex situations with compassion, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Represent Canyons School District and Student Wellness Services on community agency representation and district committees.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Utah professional educator license in School Leadership.
  • Minimum of 5 years school-based administrative experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of student code of conduct, DCMT, and levels of progressive intervention.
  • In-depth knowledge of student discipline laws, state board rule, and guidelines.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop a collaborative team.
  • Skills in problem solving, negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to supervise and lead employees effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-level school-based administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience with restorative practices and conscious discipline.
