The Student Worker II position at the University of Nevada, Reno's Computer Science and Engineering department is designed for a dedicated and organized individual to support the department's administrative, clerical, and research operations. This role is integral to assisting faculty and staff, requiring a commitment of at least two semesters, with a preference for summer work.

  • Monitor the administrative email account and forward communications to the appropriate party.
  • Answer phones, take messages, transfer calls, and handle office reception of guests and incoming mail.
  • Process day-to-day financial transactions and prepare reports as directed.
  • Process employee and student travel requests and claims, ensuring compliance with university travel policies.
  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
  • Support department communications by developing social media content, creating graphics and designs using tools like Canva, and maintaining the department's digital presence across social platforms.
  • Assist with department events and other duties as assigned.
  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
  • Candidate must have good communication skills.
  • Candidate must have the ability to follow direction.
  • Candidate must be a reliable self-starter who can think on their feet and is not afraid to ask questions.
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, efficient, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Candidates with database administration experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working in a professional office environment is preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills, with some experience managing social media platforms, creating digital content and graphics.
  • Compensation of $15.00 per hour.
  • Flexible work hours during the semester (15-20 hours per week) and up to 40 hours during Summer/Winter break.
