About the position
The Chemistry Lab Teaching Assistant (TA) position at McDaniel College is designed for current undergraduate students who have successfully completed the designated Chemistry course. The TA will assist the instructor in General Chemistry 2 lab sections, providing support to peers and ensuring a safe and effective laboratory environment. This part-time, temporary role requires a commitment to attend lab sessions and assist with various tasks related to the course.
Responsibilities
- Be present for the assigned lab section on time or early every week.
- Refresh on lab protocols and course material before each lab experiment.
- Assist and mentor students inside (and outside, as needed) the laboratory setting.
- Maintain up-to-date Laboratory Safety Training.
- Know and follow all safety regulations as dictated by the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the Chemistry Department.
- Ensure all students are following safety regulations as dictated by the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the Chemistry Department.
- Maintain a clean lab environment and assist with clean-up whenever asked.
- Host external sessions to assist students, if desired, and be compensated for logged time.
Requirements
- Current undergraduate at McDaniel College
- Must have achieved at least a B- in the lecture and satisfactorily passed the lab for the course which you will TA.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to assist peers.
