About the position

The Student Worker Program for Vehicle Integration Engineer at Ford Motor Company is a 6-month opportunity designed for students to gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry. Participants will work within the Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team, contributing to the development of innovative electric vehicles and key technologies such as batteries and charging systems. This role emphasizes collaboration with engineering, design, and software teams to support product architecture decisions and resolve technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Support cross-functional product architecture decisions for all vehicle systems
• Identify and resolve geometrical incompatibilities between systems through first principles and concept 3D
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers to procure and build physical properties
• Develop innovative engineering solutions that enable integrated vehicle systems, efficient manufacturing processes, and key styling themes
• Develop and prototype concepts that improve product cost, mass, efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and user experience

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
• Strong engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment
• CAD proficiency in assembly and part design, FEA, and 2D drawings.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior internship or student project experience in automotive or related field
• Experience designing and analyzing mechanical components in 3D CAD
• Experience fabricating and manufacturing mechanical components
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong proficiency in Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA)
