About the position

Join Ford's Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team as a Student Worker for a 6-month program, where you will gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry. This role focuses on supporting product architecture decisions, resolving geometrical incompatibilities, and collaborating with a diverse team to develop innovative engineering solutions for electric vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional product architecture decisions for all vehicle systems
  • Identify and resolve geometrical incompatibilities between systems through first principles and concept 3D
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers to procure and build physical properties
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions that enable integrated vehicle systems, efficient manufacturing processes, and key styling themes
  • Develop and prototype concepts that improve product cost, mass, efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and user experience

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment
  • CAD proficiency in assembly and part design, FEA, and 2D drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship or student project experience in automotive or related field
  • Experience designing and analyzing mechanical components in 3D CAD
  • Experience fabricating and manufacturing mechanical components
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong proficiency in Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA)
