About the position

The Student Worker Program for Vehicle Integration Engineer at Ford Motor Company offers a 6-month opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry, specifically within the Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team. Participants will work alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to contribute to the development of innovative electric vehicles and key technologies such as batteries and charging systems. This program is designed to immerse students in a dynamic work environment where they can make a real impact on the future of mobility.

Responsibilities

• Support cross-functional product architecture decisions for all vehicle systems
• Identify and resolve geometrical incompatibilities between systems through first principles and concept 3D
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers to procure and build physical properties
• Develop innovative engineering solutions that enable integrated vehicle systems, efficient manufacturing processes, and key styling themes
• Develop and prototype concepts that improve product cost, mass, efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and user experience

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
• Strong engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment
• CAD proficiency in assembly and part design, FEA, and 2D drawings.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior internship or student project experience in automotive or related field
• Experience designing and analyzing mechanical components in 3D CAD
• Experience fabricating and manufacturing mechanical components
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong proficiency in Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA)
