About the position

Inkblot Marketing at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Social Media Manager. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the connection between the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) and the student body. The Social Media Manager is responsible for ensuring that ASUN has an active and engaging online presence, which is vital for keeping students informed and interested in ASUN activities. A lapse in engagement or responsiveness could lead to a compromised image of ASUN, making this role essential for effective communication and representation of student interests. The Social Media Manager will primarily manage ASUN's social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. This involves frequent updates with the latest events, campus news, and relevant happenings within ASUN. The manager will also be responsible for responding to direct messages and comments in a timely and appropriate manner, resharing posts from ASUN departments, and ensuring that all content is accessible by composing alt text for all posts. Additionally, the manager will write and edit copy for social media channels, ensuring a consistent tone and language that reflects ASUN's values. In addition to managing social media content, the Social Media Manager will develop a social media strategy, including creating a content calendar that outlines events, ideas, and campaigns. This strategy will also involve setting goals for engagement and follower growth across all platforms. The manager will analyze social media data to interpret findings and apply them to future promotions, ensuring that ASUN's online presence continues to evolve and improve. This position requires a candidate who is enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno and possesses a strong understanding of social media dynamics. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work within deadlines are essential. The candidate must also be a proficient writer and be available to engage with the student body outside of regular working hours. Preferred qualifications include experience in maintaining a brand presence and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage ASUN Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
  • Update social media frequently with recent events, campus news, and happenings inside ASUN.
  • Respond to direct messages and comments promptly and appropriately.
  • Reshare recurring or future events from ASUN departments.
  • Utilize Basecamp to gather information for posts.
  • Compose alt text for all content to contribute to accessibility efforts.
  • Write and edit copy for social channels ensuring consistent language.
  • Represent ASUN impartially and respectfully in all communications.
  • Communicate clearly with account coordinators and Directors to promote events.
  • Monitor giveaways with different departments and set clear expectations for prizes.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss the status of promotions.
  • Utilize Hootsuite, Link Tree, and other applicable programs.
  • Create a social media calendar with events, ideas, and campaigns.
  • Strategize content creation during and following events.
  • Cultivate strategy for integrating holidays celebrated by the student body.
  • Create goals regarding engagement and following on all social platforms.
  • Promote #PackPride through all posts to maintain the ASUN brand.
  • Create and maintain an intuitive way to manage social media data.
  • Pull social media platform data and interpret findings for future promotions.

  • Candidate must understand Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
