About the position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a dedicated Student Worker to join the School of Medicine's web marketing team. This position is designed for students who are currently enrolled at UNR and offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in website content creation and search engine optimization (SEO). As a Student Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the online presence of the School of Medicine by writing and optimizing engaging content for various sections of the website. Your contributions will directly impact the visibility and effectiveness of our digital communications. In this role, you will be responsible for writing and editing website content, which includes high-level pages, program descriptions, and landing pages. It is essential that the content you create is clear, accurate, and aligns with the brand voice of the School of Medicine. You will also conduct basic SEO optimization for the content, which involves performing keyword research, crafting meta descriptions, and implementing internal linking strategies. Under the supervision of the marketing team, you will utilize the brand messaging guide to ensure that all content strategies are effectively executed. Additionally, you will be tasked with reviewing and updating existing website content to improve SEO performance and user engagement. Staying current with industry trends and best practices in content writing and SEO will be vital to your success in this position. Responsibilities

  • Write and edit website content, including high level pages, program descriptions, and landing pages, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with our brand voice.
  • Conduct basic SEO optimization for content, including keyword research, meta descriptions, and internal linking.
  • Utilize the brand messaging guide and implement content strategies under supervision of the marketing team.
  • Review and update existing website content to improve SEO performance and user engagement.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in content writing and SEO.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
  • Candidate must be enrolled with a minimum of 6 credits and in good academic standing (eligibility is also contingent on cumulative GPA 2.0 for undergrad, 3.0 for graduate).
  • Candidate must have strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Candidate must have basic understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and web analytics tools.
  • Preferred majors include Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related fields.
