About the position

The Study Abroad Advisor position at Arcadia University is responsible for advising a diverse caseload of students participating in study abroad programs. This role encompasses pre-departure orientation, reentry programming, and student mentorship, while also managing events and maintaining a welcoming office environment. The advisor plays a crucial role in supporting students throughout their study abroad journey, ensuring they are well-prepared and informed about policies, credit transfers, and financial aid options.

Responsibilities

  • Advise students preparing to study abroad on academically appropriate programs based on their goals.
  • Advise students on study abroad policies, credit transfer, finances, and scholarship support.
  • Resolve curricular issues in conjunction with students, advisors, and departments.
  • Correspond with students and parents regarding problems or concerns before, during, and after program participation.
  • Support students and encourage application retention after initial advising meetings.
  • Coordinate the Study Abroad Mentor Program (STAMP).
  • Support and coordinate events and programs including planning, organization, promotion, and post-event management.
  • Assist with events such as the Study Abroad Fair, Global Expo, and Pre-Departure Orientation.
  • Provide data support and collection for internal and external requests.
  • Assist with office upkeep, including communication with facilities and IT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Work experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience studying, living, or working abroad strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized and manage complexity
  • Enthusiasm for working with college students
  • Willingness to learn a CRM system (Salesforce)
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse educational community
  • Ability to learn and understand necessary data systems.
