About the position

As a Stunt / Fight Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to bring the director's vision to life while ensuring the safety of all actors involved in the production. This role requires a deep understanding of fight choreography and the ability to assess the physical capabilities of actors and stunt performers. You will be tasked with breaking down complex movements and teaching these techniques on the spot, ensuring that each actor can perform their required actions safely and effectively. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing any challenges that arise during rehearsals, particularly when an actor struggles with choreography. Producers and directors will rely on your skills to create action scenes that are not only visually stunning but also executed with precision and safety in mind. In addition to choreography, you will be involved in various aspects of production, including action scene script breakdowns, creating shot lists, and developing fight scene concepts. Your role is essential in maintaining a smooth workflow on set, as you will help keep the production under budget while ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards. By preparing thoroughly and efficiently, you will contribute to fewer takes being needed, which ultimately leads to happier producers and a more successful production overall. Responsibilities

  • Assess actors' and stunt players' physical abilities and provide on-the-spot training for required movements.
  • Break down fight choreography into manageable segments for actors to learn.
  • Develop action scene concepts and assist in script breakdowns for fight sequences.
  • Create shot lists that effectively capture the action while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Work closely with producers and directors to align on vision and execution of fight scenes.
  • Maintain a focus on actor safety throughout the production process, ensuring all stunts are performed safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a stunt coordinator or fight choreographer in film or television.
  • Strong understanding of fight choreography and movement breakdown.
  • Ability to assess and adapt to the physical capabilities of actors and stunt performers.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively teach and guide actors during rehearsals.
  • Experience in working with various budgets and production levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a variety of film genres, including action, drama, and comedy.
