About The Position

The Subrogation Claim Representative is responsible for investigating, evaluating, reserving, negotiating, and resolving assigned subrogation claims. This role involves conducting thorough investigations, determining liability, confirming subrogation potential, and maximizing recoveries through negotiation and settlement of claims. The representative ensures quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle while maintaining compliance with internal and external standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of one year property and casualty subrogation claim handling experience or comparable liability claim experience is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years subrogation claim handling experience is preferred.
  • Experience utilizing computer technology such as Microsoft Office and database software is preferred.
  • Intermediate analytical thinking skills.
  • Intermediate judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Intermediate communication skills.
  • Intermediate negotiation skills are preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of insurance contracts and principles of investigation.
  • Intermediate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently.

  • Solid typing skills to enter and search for data.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate each claim to obtain relevant facts necessary to evaluate recovery potential.
  • Identify the cause of loss and responsible party targets, developing theories of liability.
  • Deliver consistent service quality and effective diary management to ensure timely handling of claims.
  • Direct the preservation of evidence and hire experts for specific investigative activities.
  • Verify the nature and extent of the loss and keep an effective diary management system.
  • Evaluate liability to assess subrogation potential at required time intervals.
  • Develop and employ creative resolution strategies for claims.
  • Negotiate subrogation recoveries with responsible parties and their carriers.
  • Develop litigation plans with staff or panel counsel to assure effective resolution.
  • Track and control legal expenses to assure cost-effective resolution.
  • Attend and present at roundtables for collaboration of technical expertise.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced subrogation professionals and trainees.
