About the position

The SUBS Grant Analyst (GA) at the University of Washington's Office of Sponsored Research Services plays a crucial role in supporting the university's research enterprise by ensuring compliance with internal and external policies related to research administration. The GA is responsible for preparing, negotiating, and administering outgoing subagreements for sponsored research activities, providing expert advice and training to faculty and administrators, and managing the workload associated with subawards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and negotiate outgoing subagreements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and legal frameworks affecting sponsored research agreements.
  • Provide detail-oriented review of SUBSystem Required Items and enforce compliance with policies.
  • Analyze sponsored research awards for required flow down terms and prepare outgoing subaward agreements.
  • Manage workload using status transparency for prioritization and ensure timely submission of subawards.
  • Administer and manage the SUBS template portfolio and internal process documents.
  • Create and approve Supplier Contracts and amendments in the university financial system.
  • Provide expert advice and training on research administration processes and policies.
  • Manage FFATA reporting using SUBSystem reports.
  • Prepare weekly status reports of SUBS teamwork load and assist with special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year of experience in research administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with sponsored research administration in a large university environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and federal/non-federal pre and post-award policies.
  • Knowledge of the university's organization and policies/procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Uniform Guidance (UG).
  • Ability to negotiate key contract terms and conditions.
