About the position

The Subsea Design Engineer will be responsible for completing or coordinating engineering activities in support of various projects within Oceaneering's Offshore Projects Group. This role focuses on providing engineering design solutions for subsea installations predominantly in the Gulf of Mexico, ensuring compliance with client requirements and engineering standards. The engineer will engage in tasks such as creating manufacturing drawings, conducting design reviews, and interfacing with clients and contractors to resolve subsea-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure engineering work complies with Oceaneering policy and client requirements, focusing on safety.
  • Support multiple engineering projects or bids.
  • Conduct and attend internal and external design reviews.
  • Interface with customers and project vendors to resolve subsea-related issues.
  • Communicate project status, issues, or concerns with stakeholders.
  • Create or review concept designs and manufacturing drawings.
  • Perform technical evaluations of existing designs and interpret FEA and stress results.
  • Identify material, coating, and cathodic protection solutions for subsea hardware.
  • Create or review procedures and specifications for compliance with engineering principles and client requirements.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT).
  • Review customer specifications and support bids and proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Ocean Engineering) or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of industry-related experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience with basic Engineering Fundamentals, including pressure vessel design and stress calculations.
  • Minimum of two years' experience checking and reviewing machine, weldment, and assembly drawings.
  • Minimum of two years' experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, NX, etc.).
  • Valid passport and ability to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC), Petroleum Education Council (PEC) Basic Training, and Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET).

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of PLM (Product Life Management) System, specifically Enovia.
  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack up analysis, and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with ROV and/or subsea equipment design and engineering.
  • Experience working with industry standards (API, ISO, DNV, ASTM, etc.).
  • Experience with basic hydraulic components and the ability to read hydraulic schematics and P&IDs.
  • Experience working with harsh environments (subsea or space).
  • Experience performing material selection for subsea structures, subsea equipment, and ROV tooling.
  • Proficient in Solidworks and working knowledge of AutoCAD, MathCAD, and ANSYS.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
