About the position

As a Subsea (ROV) Technician at Oceaneering International, Inc., you will be responsible for operating Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and associated subsea systems in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves maintaining and repairing all electronic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems related to ROV operations, including component repair, replacement, and troubleshooting. You will work with advanced subsea technology, including cameras, acoustic positioning systems, sonars, and manipulators, ensuring that all equipment functions optimally during operations. Your duties will include piloting the ROV, evaluating environmental conditions, and navigating using various systems. You will also perform maintenance and repairs on equipment, which includes calibrating and aligning systems, as well as general housekeeping and corrosion control. The position requires you to operate and interface with sub-sea navigational equipment and integrate various tooling systems to enhance ROV capabilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies necessary for the operation and repair of all systems. This position is characterized as offshore work, requiring adaptability to various working conditions, including exposure to outdoor elements and moving equipment. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to work in confined spaces, as well as the capability to lift heavy objects and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. You will be part of a team that values cooperation and respect, contributing to the overall success of subsea operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and associated subsea systems safely and efficiently.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems related to ROV operations.
  • Assist in piloting the ROV, evaluating environmental conditions, and navigating using acoustic and visual systems.
  • Integrate and operate various subsea tooling and equipment, including manipulators and launch and recovery systems.
  • Maintain parts and supplies inventory for all electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic assemblies.
  • Conduct general housekeeping and corrosion control on equipment.

Requirements

  • 18 to 24 months of formal mechanical and hydraulic training.
  • 18 to 24 months of formal electrical and electronics training, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Passport and any other regionally mandated offshore work requirement documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Technical/Associate degree.
