About the position

The Substance Abuse Assessor is responsible for conducting comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments for clients, which includes face-to-face interviews, written evaluations, and determining the appropriate level of care. This role also involves case management services to facilitate client entry into treatment, ensuring compliance with best practice standards and licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the drug and alcohol assessment process through face-to-face interviews with clients.
  • Conduct written evaluations and complete associated initial evaluation documentation.
  • Determine the appropriate level of care for clients and refer them accordingly.
  • Provide case management services related to client entry into treatment.
  • Maintain knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities, including symptoms and treatment options.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation, including Substance Use Evaluation and Assessment.
  • Participate in individual and peer supervision, as well as program staff meetings.
  • Complete required training as per the Professional Development Plan.
  • Submit required documentation regarding degrees, licenses, certifications, and clearances to Human Resources.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, payers, and community support service representatives.
  • Provide authorized client services promptly and conduct mobile assessments as scheduled.
  • Perform crisis assessments and refer clients to the appropriate level of care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a practicum in a clinical discipline (e.g., clinical or counseling psychology, clinical social work) for mental health therapists, or a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health discipline with 1 year of clinical experience.
  • One year of post-degree experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal clearance, and fingerprint-based federal criminal history verification.

Nice-to-haves
