About the position

We are seeking a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC or LCDC-I) to join our team in Dallas, TX. This role involves providing substance abuse outpatient treatment services primarily to the criminal justice community. The counselor will conduct individual and group counseling sessions, perform assessments, and develop treatment plans, all while fostering a supportive and empathetic environment for clients. The position is available for both part-time and full-time schedules, emphasizing flexibility and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions in person.
  • Perform initial and ongoing substance use disorder assessments and develop treatment plans for identified individuals.
  • Effectively communicate with and educate clients on treatment options, methods, and techniques.
  • Establish and obtain client rapport by demonstrating warmth, realness, and empathy.
  • Communicate and build rapport with parole officers as it relates to client treatment and progress.
  • Organize work time and perform required functions in a timely manner.
  • Accurately document all services in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and DSHS established documentation standards.
  • Observe confidentiality requirements.
  • Function in accordance with the profession's Code of Ethics and demonstrate competency in accordance with the 12 core counseling functions defined by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors.
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare or counseling professionals.

Requirements

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (or intern) with at least one year of experience.
  • Experience working with the adult offender population preferred but not required.
  • Experience conducting sessions via telehealth and understanding of confidentiality requirements through this platform.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and implement facility rules and guidelines with clients.
  • The ability to conduct evening groups from 5:30-8:30 two to three times a week.
  • Superior time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Functional knowledge of the 12-step program.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate, confront, and self-disclose.
  • Control problem situations in a calm and directive manner.
  • Possesses positive and pleasant interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience utilizing an EHR/EMR is a plus but not required (training will be provided).
