About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction and recovery processes and will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling to clients struggling with substance use disorders. This role requires a commitment to supporting clients through their recovery journey while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' substance use issues.
• Perform diagnostic evaluations to assess the needs of clients and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide psychotherapy and addiction counseling to facilitate recovery and coping strategies.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques when necessary to ensure client safety.
• Collect and maintain accurate data regarding client progress, treatment plans, and outcomes while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• Engage in clinical counseling practices that promote positive behavioral changes in clients.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
• Stay informed about current trends in addiction medicine and treatment methodologies.

Requirements

• Experience or training in individual group counseling techniques.
• Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation processes related to substance abuse.
• Familiarity with psychotherapy methods suitable for addiction treatment.
• Understanding of addiction counseling principles and practices.
• Proficiency in data collection methods relevant to clinical settings.
• Experience in clinical counseling within a mental health or substance abuse context.
• Skills in crisis intervention strategies tailored for individuals facing substance use challenges.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology as it pertains to patient care.
