About the position
The Substance Abuse Specialist at Metrocare plays a crucial role in providing interventions for individuals facing mental health and substance abuse challenges. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, ensuring consumer engagement, and collaborating with treatment teams to achieve successful outcomes. The specialist will work within the community, providing support services and conducting assessments to facilitate recovery and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide Community Support services to assigned cases and treatment team cases.
- Possess knowledge of mental illness, substance abuse issues, and DSM IV diagnostic criteria.
- Strive to attain successful consumer outcomes in coordination with treatment team members.
- Implement Clinical Algorithms as defined by the Mental Health Division of Metrocare Services.
- Complete documentation of services provided to consumers within 24 hours of service.
- Conduct CD assessments and provide CD/substance abuse intervention and prevention in individual and group settings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience in substance abuse or mental health services.
- LCDC licensure preferred.
- Intermediate level skills in MS Excel, Email, and word processing programs.
