About the position
The Substance Abuse Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) at the San Diego Job Corps Center. This role focuses on spreading awareness, aiding in prevention, training staff, and networking with the community regarding substance use and abuse issues. The specialist will work closely with students to assess substance use problems and create intervention plans, while also providing ongoing training for staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP).
- Assess students with identified substance use problems and create intervention plans.
- Provide TEAP orientation and education to students and instructors.
- Conduct assessments and develop assistance plans for new students during their probation period.
- Provide input for necessary referrals of students or staff with TEAP problems.
- Conduct TEAP classes and group education sessions for students and staff.
- Provide ongoing training for staff to identify and report substance abuse problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Valid CADC or CRADC certification.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
