About the position

The Substance Use Dependency Professional Trainee (SUDPT) position at Lifeline Connections is designed for individuals seeking to provide counseling and case management for clients dealing with substance use and mental health conditions. This role involves collaborating with supervisory staff to manage treatment activities, develop individualized treatment plans, and lead treatment groups. The SUDPT is responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment that encourages client engagement and recovery, while also documenting clinical information and providing crisis intervention services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling and case management for clients.
  • Assist supervisory staff and Program Director in program review and daily management of treatment activities.
  • Train and orient junior staff and trainees.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a motivating treatment environment.
  • Assess the psycho-social functioning of clients and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Lead treatment groups according to agency guidelines.
  • Develop discharge and aftercare plans and make referrals for follow-up care.
  • Document clinical information including treatment plans and progress notes.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and referrals to clients and their families.
  • Teach specialized treatment concepts to client groups.

Requirements

  • College coursework in Substance Use dependency, human sciences, or a related field required.
  • Successful completion of at least one course per quarter/semester toward educational requirements for Washington State Department of Health SUDP credential required.
  • Knowledge of various therapeutic approaches and ability to maintain therapeutic limits.
  • Ability to function autonomously while maintaining communication with staff members.
  • Broad knowledge of human personality development and socio-cultural factors affecting individuals and families involved with substance use.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention theory and various theories of addictive behavior.
  • Understanding of individual and group treatment practices for chemical abusing clients.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required for inpatient staff members.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
