About the position

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor position at Lawrence Comprehensive Treatment Center is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients recovering from opioid use disorder. The counselor will engage in both individual and group counseling sessions, ensuring that each patient receives personalized attention and support throughout their recovery journey. This role is crucial in planning, overseeing, and documenting the treatment process, which includes preparing individual treatment plans and conducting initial and follow-up assessments. The counselor will also evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are necessary, as well as plan for aftercare when appropriate. Crisis intervention and case management duties are also part of the responsibilities, ensuring that patients receive individualized quality care. The position offers an optional hybrid schedule after an initial training period, allowing for a balance between in-clinic and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
  • Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
  • Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
  • Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
  • Conduct initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
  • Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
  • Plan for aftercare for assigned patients as necessary.
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
  • Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social or health services field is required.
  • Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in an addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication-assisted treatment) environment.
  • Licenses/Certifications: CAC, CAS, CADAC, CRC, LADC, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT if not currently in possession of a Master's degree.
