About the position

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor at Lawrence Comprehensive Treatment Center plays a crucial role in the treatment and recovery of patients suffering from opioid use disorder. This position involves providing high-quality, compassionate care through various mediums, including both individual and group counseling sessions. The counselor is responsible for planning, overseeing, facilitating, and documenting the patient's recovery process, ensuring that all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed in a timely and clear manner. The counselor will prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient, conduct initial assessments, and follow up with assessments to evaluate patient needs. Additionally, the counselor may need to determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are necessary and plan for aftercare for assigned patients. Crisis intervention may also be required, along with case management duties to ensure individualized quality care for patients. The role requires acting as a liaison between referral sources and patients as needed, contributing to a supportive and effective treatment environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
  • Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
  • Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
  • Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
  • Conduct initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
  • Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
  • Plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
  • Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social or health services field is required.
  • Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in an addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication-assisted treatment) environment.
  • Licenses/Certifications: CAC, CAS, CADAC, CRC, LADC, LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT if not currently in possession of a Master's degree.
