About the position

Carolina Outreach, an ncgCARE partner, is one of the largest and most respected providers of community-based behavioral services in North Carolina. Our services include evidence-based practices, school-based and outpatient therapy, psychiatric evaluations and treatment, Community Support, and substance abuse services. We are currently seeking full-time Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Specialists for our Community Support Team in Charlotte, NC. The community-based SUD Specialist will conduct assessments and provide community-based therapy and case management to adults. This role involves conducting initial assessments for clients with severe Substance Use Disorder symptoms and connecting them with a higher level of care such as residential care, SAIOP, or SACOT services. The SUD Specialist will provide assistance and support to individuals with SUD and/or mental health in crisis situations, engage in service coordination activities, and facilitate psycho-educational and support activities for clients and their families or natural supports as appropriate. Additionally, the SUD Specialist will be responsible for rehabilitative and independent living skills, symptom monitoring and management skills, and the assessment and reassessment of the client's need for services. This includes informing clients about benefits, community resources, and services, assisting them in accessing these benefits, arranging for the client to receive services, and monitoring the provision of these services. Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments for clients with severe Substance Use Disorder symptoms.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Must be a Resident In Counseling or a Fully Licensed Therapist.
  • Experience in community-based behavioral services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use disorder treatment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and services for substance use disorders.
  • Skills in crisis intervention and management.
