About the position

The Substation Civil Engineer position at POWER Engineers involves leading engineering design activities for electrical substations. The role requires a strong civil engineering background and offers a hybrid work environment. The engineer will be responsible for various aspects of civil design, including site and foundation design, and will coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure the constructability of electrical substations.

Responsibilities

• Leading other engineers, designers, and drafters in electrical substation civil design.
• Self-performing all aspects of civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design.
• Developing civil construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules.
• Coordinating with all disciplines contributing to electrical substation design.
• Ensuring the constructability of electrical substations.
• Preparing calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements.
• Occasional travel as required.

Requirements

• BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering) degree from an accredited college.
• 4+ years of civil design experience.
• Ability to function as a Substation Civil Engineer in the Augusta office.
• Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
• Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV).
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RISA, MatchCAD, LPile, and Civil 3D.
• Geotechnical background.
• Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and manage budgets and schedules.
