About the position

POWER Engineers is seeking a Substation Civil Engineer to join their Power Delivery Substation Department in Freeport, Maine. This role involves performing engineering design activities for electrical substations, including civil design, permitting support, and coordination with multiple disciplines. The position offers flexibility for a hybrid work environment, requiring the employee to live within driving distance of the office.

Responsibilities

• All aspects of substation civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design
• Development of civil construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals and project schedules
• Support of substation physical design with bus analysis calculations and coordinating with multiple disciplines on results
• Preparation of calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements
• Understand and incorporate typical structural code requirements
• Coordination with all disciplines contributing to electrical substation design
• Preparation of calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements
• Occasional travel will be required

Requirements

• BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering) degree from an accredited college
• Ability to perform basic civil engineering tasks
• Ability to independently create calculation packages
• Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or the ability to complete the FE exam within one year
• A strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills

Nice-to-haves
