As a Substation Design - Electrical Engineer 4 at Black & Veatch, you will function as a technical lead in substation design, which encompasses distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission level voltage classes. Your primary responsibilities will include developing electrical design deliverables, such as protection and control design (protective relays) and/or physical design. You will actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings, interfacing directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Additionally, you will be responsible for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of projects and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring that all engineering standards and quality programs are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle. In this role, you will prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables and conduct independent evaluations, selections, and adaptations of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements while also reviewing the work of lower-level engineers. Your role will require you to communicate effectively with clients to understand their interests and drivers, ensuring that these are accommodated in the performance of the work. You will also be recognized as a technical specialist within the division, possessing in-depth knowledge of engineering processes and technical aspects of the industry.
