Wade Trim is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineering Summer Intern for our ICE group in our Michigan offices. This internship is designed for candidates who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, preferably those in their junior or senior year. The role requires a valid driver's license and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Candidates should be self-motivated, highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills. The intern will be involved in designing electrical installation and protective relaying and control (PR&C) components for electrical substation projects. This includes tasks such as substation equipment layout, detailed electrical installation design, and PR&C design steel design, all in accordance with governing industry codes and standards. The position demands periods of intense concentration and offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for work in a normal office setting, fully remote, or a combination of both. Infrequent travel may be required. Interns will gain exposure to electrical design standards and codes, including IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and NESC. This role provides a unique opportunity to assist in various aspects of high voltage substation design, contributing to the preparation of one-line diagrams, electrical installation plans, section views, and details, as well as panel elevations and PR&C schematic, wiring, and interconnection diagrams. Additionally, interns will assist in engineering calculations, construction drawings, specifications, project documents, and bill of material lists. Site visits may also be part of the experience, along with supporting Project Managers and maintaining a safe working environment.
