About The Position

The Substation Electrician III position at OUC involves assisting in the maintenance and testing of all substation equipment under the supervision of Electrician I or Lead Electrician. This role requires a highly technical individual with strong troubleshooting skills, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of the utility's operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of eighteen (18) months' experience in commercial/industrial wiring or High Voltage (HV) wiring or a minimum of six (6) months' experience as an OUC Apprentice Substation Electrician
• Valid Florida Driver's License
• Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) clearance, or ability to acquire within six (6) months of hire

Nice To Haves

• Class A CDL
• Familiarity with mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical maintenance methods within a substation
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience with Electric Testing equipment and software such as Cascade and Battery testing software

Responsibilities

• Work with crews maintaining & testing all substation equipment under leadership of Electrician I or Lead Electrician
• Assist crew in performing High Voltage (HV) & Low Voltage (LV) switching activities under supervision
• Review job assignments and safety procedures each morning with Electrician I or Lead Electrician
• Assist in preparing vehicle for next assignment with tools and equipment for their crew
• Assist with training and requirements for newer Electrician IIIs
• Take initiative in completing required safety/job skills trainings and on-the-job field sign off book
• Perform other duties as assigned.
