About the position

The Lead Substation Electrical Engineer at Ulteig is a technical leader responsible for overseeing complex projects in the Renewables, Utility, and Power sectors. This role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of project work, making design recommendations, and providing technical guidance to other engineers. The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams from project estimation through to commissioning and construction support.

Responsibilities

• Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for utility substations and relay automation equipment.
• Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills.
• Provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Lead complex substation projects with a multidisciplinary team.
• Review and produce design drawings, including one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel elevations.
• Perform AC & DC substation studies.
• Support on-site commissioning and/or construction activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree is a plus.
• PE registration required.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• Effective leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with substation protection and control design and industry standards.
• Ability to perform AC & DC substation studies.
• Knowledge of substation electrical physical equipment.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) is a plus.
• Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of basic relay settings is a plus.
• Experience with on-site commissioning and/or construction support is a plus.
