About the position

The Substation Physical CAD Drafter position at Leidos involves providing computer-aided drafting and design support for electrical physical substation engineering projects. The role is based in Atlanta, GA, and offers a hybrid work schedule with potential remote work for candidates in the Southeast region. The successful candidate will perform intermediate to senior level drafting tasks, contributing to various electrical drawings and collaborating with other CAD leads as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate to senior level drafter/designer work for electrical physical substation engineering projects.
  • Complete drafting assignments on Physical Electrical drawings including General Arrangement, Electrical Plans, Electrical Elevations, Sections and Details, Foundation Plans and Details, Structural Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Raceway Plan and Details, and Equipment Vendor Files.
  • Support remote office overflow CAD workload as needed, coordinating with other CAD leads in Leidos offices.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution preferred; high school diploma/Drafting certificate with additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures for Substation physical projects.
  • Proficiency with vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient, able to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working at a utility doing substation physical drafting/design.
  • Experience with physical design projects for electrical substations.
  • Experience with file sharing, document management, and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, Point, etc.
  • Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
  • Experience with 3-D modeling in Autodesk Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, Bentley Open Utilities, MicroStation.
