About the position

The Substitute Cafeteria Worker I is responsible for maintaining food service facilities and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition while assisting in the preparation, serving, and selling of food. This role requires adherence to health and safety standards and involves various tasks related to food service operations within the school district.

Responsibilities

• Maintain food service facilities and equipment in a neat, clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
• Assist in the preparation, setting up, serving, and selling of food.
• Clean serving counters, tables, chairs, food containers, and other equipment.
• Operate dishwasher and wash trays, plates, utensils, and other serving equipment.
• Set up food preparation areas and serving lines.
• Heat, set up, sell, and serve food to students and faculty.
• Clean and store kitchen equipment.
• Assist in food preparation activities such as preparing sandwiches, mixing salads, grating cheese, and preparing fruits and vegetables.
• Act as cashier, counting cash receipts and maintaining simple records.

Requirements

• 12th grade education or equivalent.
• Fingerprint background check by DOJ/FBI.
• Pre-employment physical, including drug screen.
• Pass District's child nutrition services exam.
• Food Handler's Certificate.
• Proof of HS Graduation (High School Diploma or GED or higher degree).
