About the position

The Substitute Custodian at California Children's Academy is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in various facilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. This role is on an as-needed basis, with the potential for full-time employment, and involves a variety of cleaning tasks using different materials and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, restrooms, offices, lunchrooms, and hallways.
• Sanitize surfaces such as toilets, tables, sinks, and counters as instructed by the supervisor.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, classrooms, stairs, restrooms, and office spaces.
• Clean furniture and fixtures; wash walls, windows, doors, and equipment.
• Empty trash and garbage containers.
• Clean and sweep parking lots, walkways, and play yards, including sandboxes, to ensure they are free of debris.
• Operate cleaning equipment in accordance with safety instructions.
• Mix chemicals following instructions regarding their use and supplies.
• Notify supervisor concerning hazardous conditions or repairs needed in facilities or equipment.
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, conferences, and events.
• Order supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Attend to emergencies when necessary.
• Respond positively to requests for assistance from staff and others.
• Support and enforce agency policies, OSHA rules, health and safety regulations, and guidelines.

Requirements

• Ability to maintain cleanliness and order in facilities.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment usage.
• Ability to follow safety instructions and guidelines.
• Flexibility to travel between campuses and adapt to schedule changes.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in custodial or cleaning roles.
